Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Manuscript Preparation:
    Prepare your manuscript according to the journal's guidelines and formatting requirements. Templates and detailed instructions can be found on the JMOB website.
    Ensure that your manuscript includes essential sections such as title, abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusion, acknowledgments, and references.
    Follow a clear and concise writing style, adhering to appropriate scientific language and terminology.
  • All manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the JMOB online submission system.
    During the submission process, provide complete and accurate author information, including affiliations and contact details.
  • Upload your manuscript file in a supported format (e.g., Microsoft Word), along with any supplementary materials or data files.
  • Ensure that your research complies with ethical standards and guidelines, including obtaining informed consent from human participants and adhering to animal welfare regulations for studies involving animals.
  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest, funding sources, or ethical issues related to your research.
    Peer Review Process:
  • All submissions undergo rigorous peer review by experts in the relevant field.
  • Peer review is conducted in a double-blind manner to ensure impartial evaluation.
    Authors can expect timely and work.

Author Guidelines 

Thank you for considering the Journal of Medical and Oral Biosciences for the publication of your research. To ensure smooth processing of your manuscript, please adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Manuscript Preparation:

  • Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • Use Times New Roman font, size 12, and double-spaced lines throughout the manuscript.
  • Include line numbers for ease of review.
  • Margins should be set to 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.

2. Manuscript Structure:

  • Title Page: Include the title of the manuscript, authors' names and affiliations, corresponding author's contact information (including email address), and any acknowledgments.
  • Abstract: Provide an abstract of up to 250 words, including background, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Keywords: Include 3-5 keywords or phrases that best describe the content of the manuscript.
  • Introduction: Clearly state the purpose of the study and provide relevant background information.
  • Methods: Describe the study design, materials, and methods used in sufficient detail to allow replication.
  • Results: Present the findings of the study in a logical sequence using tables, figures, and graphs as necessary.
  • Discussion: Interpret the results, compare them with existing literature, and discuss their implications.
  • Conclusion: Summarize the main findings of the study and their significance.
  • DECLARATIONS
          1. Funding
    The author(s) stated that this work received no funding or declared the source of funding.
    Competing interests statement
    The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest.
            2. Ethics statement
    The authors confirm that the ethical policies of the journal, as noted on the journal’s author guidelines page, have adhered to. The author should provide the ethical approval for his/her study.
            3. Author contributions
    Author contribution should be mentioned for each author such as :
    Author 1 provided the concepts, data analysis, and writing of the manuscript; Author 2 worked with data collection and analysis; Author 3 worked with data collection and analysis; Author 4 revised the manuscript and analyzed the data.
             4. Acknowledgments
    Acknowledgments should acknowledge sources of support, grants, disclaimers, and individuals who contributed but are not listed as authors. Funding organizations should be mentioned in full. Remember to express gratitude for comments from reviewers and editors during the revision process, including those provided on previous drafts submitted to other journals.
  • References: List all references cited in the manuscript in alphabetical order following a standardized citation format.

3. Citation and Referencing:

  • Use the  National Library of Medicine (NLM)  citation style for references.
  • Number citations consecutively in the order in which they appear in the text, using Arabic numerals enclosed in square brackets (e.g., [1]).
  • List all references numerically in the reference list at the end of the manuscript.
  • Provide complete bibliographic information for each reference, including authors' names, title of the article, journal name, volume, issue, page numbers, and publication year.

Examples of Common Citation Formats:

  • Journal Article:
  • List all authors, regardless of the number.
  • Names are listed as last, first initial and middle initial with no periods
  • Separate author names using a comma and a space.
  • End the author list with a period

4. Submission Process:

  • Submit your manuscript online through the journal's submission system.
  • Ensure that all author names, affiliations, and contact information are accurately entered during the submission process.
  • Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation email with further instructions and a manuscript ID for tracking purposes.
