Abstract

Guaifenesin (GU) and Theophylline (THP) are combined to treat asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema symptoms, and ameliorating various respiratory conditions like shortness of breath, wheezing and cough. This study intended to investigate the effects of Guaifenesin and Theophylline on the level of CK-MB and LDH enzymes using a Biochemical Analyzer and Spectrophotometer and their impact on clinical conditions. Random serum samples were collected from patients aged 40 to 45 years with varying drug doses (concentrations). The levels of CK-MB and LDH were measured according to suggested methods. The results of this study showed that an increase in the concentration of each drug and their combination led to elevated CK-MB activity. Conversely, an increase in drug concentration resulted in a decrease in LDH activity.

In conclusion, this study investigates the relationship between the concentration of Guaifenesin (GU) and Theophylline (THP) and the level of CK-MB and LDH in treated patients that were estimated by Biochemical Analyzer and Ultra violet visible Spectrophotometer.
